The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service is an arm of the Criminal Justice System and is a Division of the Ministry of Justice. The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service and its officers are responsible for the safe custody and rehabilitation of prisoners. Over 1200 Prison Officers of various ranks are responsible for the operations of the Prison Service.

The Prison Service places great emphasis on their Rehabilitation Programme. The programme is extensive and is designed to provide, among other activities, opportunities in skills training (craft, agriculture and computer literacy), education (from literacy to secondary school), the arts (music and painting) and life coping skills (drug and alcohol rehabilitation, self-awareness, anger management).

The Prison Services has officers ranked from Prison Officer I & II, Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent, Senior Superintendent in the following units:
