COURSE DESCRIPTION: One of the worst things that can happen to any organization is its destruction and/or damage due to fire. Not only can there be enormous financial losses, but there can simultaneously be social, psychological and other economic dislocations that can cripple companies, and importantly, people’s lives. This course aims to prevent and manage such occurrences by empowering participants with the requisite competence.

The course discusses the science of fire prevention and management. It then goes on to tackle the various strategies that must be developed and implemented to both prevent as well as manage such disastrous occurrences. It will cover the various steps and techniques as well as international best practices to get this done.

As there are different types of fires that may occur (this will be covered), the course delves into the various types of solutions (e.g., equipment) available and required to respond to any of such occurrences. Key to this course will be focus on the critical but often downplayed role of drills. Drill design and implementation will be covered.

The key processes of evacuation and training will be underscored in this course. The course presents a conceptual as well as a practical and interactive methodology to training and learning.

Overall, at the end of the course, participants will know the DOs and DONTs to ensure that their organization is as best prepared as possible to prevent and manage fires in the workplace.
