COURSE DESCRIPTION: In Trinidad and Tobago, there is the culture of unpreparedness. Now is the time to fix this. Fires occur in any place and time. Not only are fires restricted to restaurants and the oil and gas sectors, but all types of organizations are at high risk of fires.

Organizations should not be left unprotected in terms of what they can do to prevent as well as respond to fires. Many times, it is too late when the fire service arrives to extinguish an ongoing fire. It is the critical small steps that each organization can do that can eventually save the day.

A simple strategy to adopt is to train fire wardens in every organization. If an organization is large, it is recommended that persons in various departments be trained. If an organization occupies more than floor in a building, then persons in every floor should be trained. This is a preventative strategy that can save your organization in the long term.

In this 6-hour Fire Warden Training, participants are introduced to the critical aspects in the identification and control of fire risks. Further, they will be able to understand basic fire hazards and their consequential risks in the workplace. Next to be tackled are the main measures that can be taken to minimize such fire risks. And, emergency response protocols are also fully covered in this training.

15 Introduction to Fraud Investigations Thu, 29 February 2024 Thu, 21 March 2024 900 TTD Per Seat

Online Courses cost $900

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The initial response to any suspicion of fraud or corruption needs to be calm and measured. Knee jerk reactions and bravado such as “sack him now”, or “let’s interrogate the suspect” or “let’s kick that supplier out” or “call the police” can often come back to haunt senior management. It’s often forgotten that any investigation has two sides: what went wrong and why it went wrong.

Investigations can be rather exciting but they are also complex, expensive and rather tiring affairs. You usually need a team of professionals who have specialist skills including the analysis of computers and information, intelligence management, interviewing, and of, course legal skills. This course will provide information on how one can successfully undertake a fraud investigation.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Know the objectives for an investigation
  • Know the key steps in investigations
  • Gain insight into proper evidence management
  • Know how to manage investigations
  • Enhance interviewing skills
  • Know the basics of report writing
  • Develop techniques for giving evidence
  • Understand the legal framework in which investigations are done

19 Security Management: Effective DisciplinaryTechniques Wed, 15 November 2023 Fri, 17 November 2023 695 TTD Per Seat

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course addresses two very serious areas in security supervision, that is, identifying the need for various types of counselling interventions for employees who may be exhibiting particular social and psychological behaviours and attitudes that warrant redress. It will also empower persons to take preventative action where necessary.

The security and public safety industry can be a very hectic and challenging one given its main area of business - crime, violence, burglaries, robberies, long hours of work, stressful working conditions, conflicts with co-workers, personal financial strain, etc. This scenario can negatively impact the physical and emotional well-being of persons, their job performance, the relationship with their families and friends, etc. If these issues are not identified and treated in a timely manner, they can escalate and have serious disastrous consequences.

The course will also expose participants on how to detect early signs through diagnostic testing and discuss the range of solutions that can be adopted to assist affected employees.

Unfortunately, at times, situations may warrant supervisors and/or managers in security and public safety organizations to initiate disciplinary action against staff for breaches they would have committed. This, of course, should be done after due process and in accordance to company policy (where there is one). But, is that company policy effective? Do staff repeatedly break company rules and why? Do staff find new ways to circumvent rules, how and why? How can you get disciplinary processes and disciplinary action to work positively for both company and staff? These critical issues will be covered in this course. Importantly, this course will assist companies in establishing disciplinary policies or enhancing those that already exist according to contemporary standards.

The course will also show how to blend appropriate reward systems with disciplinary protocols. It presents a wide range of disciplinary processes that is available for security and public safety officers. These include innovative options within verbal, written, directive, suspension, reduction in rank and dismissals categories. Key DOs and DONTS in disciplinary processes will be shared with all course participants to ensure that their organization improves its standards and get a more disciplined staff complement.
